Subject: Poste Restante

Posted by: williamdice

I am hopefully about to receive an invitation to a wedding and I would like to send a real reply rather than an e-mail but don't have an address for my friend. Does anyone know if the central post office is reliable and if I can send a poste restante letter there (to be collected). If so does anyone have its address pelase,

Thank you

Getting email in Sudan is not so easy. Is your friend living in Khartoum? If so, you could tell him to set up a PO Box - should cost about thirty dollars (60 SDG).

Alternatively, there is DHL...

Those are the only two real options, unless you know someone else that has a PO Box in Sudan. Many of the big companies over there do, of course.

Hope that's of help - B

Just in case anyone else is following this thread DHL quoted me ??68 to deliver it in 3 working days (with collection). The Post Office quoted me 78p but I did have to take it to the nearest post box.

Thinking about it it would be cheaper to wire my mate the 60SDG to buy him a PO Box and then use the postal service, maybe I'll try that instead of DHL.

The postal system is useless. Best option is a DHL and they will take it to his door!
